LCHS Safety information 2.15.24
Dear LCSD Families and Community,
We wanted to update you regarding the safety situation that occurred last week connected to Lake County High School. To see the communication sent to Lake County High School last week you may visit this link: LCHS Safety information 2.10.24 https://wp.me/P4PQnj-6Hw.
Late this afternoon we were informed by law enforcement of changes in the situation. Based on this information we know that the student has been released to parents with strict guidelines and expectations to support safety in the community. Additionally, we met with law enforcement and the Deputy District Attorney to discuss a more detailed plan for our schools, staff, and students.
Additional plans for school safety for this week will include:
- Increased law enforcement presence at Lake County High School and all of our campuses.
- Law enforcement presence has been on site to support the dance tonight at the high school.
- Law enforcement will also be supporting school drop off, end of day, sporting events, Project Dream etc.
- Check-in notification from law enforcement to the district before the start of school each day to provide us with an update and make any adjustments to safety plans for the day.
- Nordic skiers will have an activity bus transport to Dutch Henry for practice. Please see Amy Peters for details.
We will reassess the situation with the Deputy District Attorney and law enforcement late next week.
We are committed to providing a safe and engaging learning environment for all students and staff, as such we will continue to work with law enforcement to stay informed and plan accordingly. We will provide additional information once more is available. We appreciate the responsiveness and partnership with law enforcement and the Deputy District Attorney.
