Dear LCES Families and Guardians,

What a wonderful evening at our K–5 Open House on Wednesday! We were so excited to see our students and families, so many lively attitudes, and such a positive vibe throughout the building. We hope you enjoyed exploring our learning spaces and getting a glimpse into what your student is learning and experiencing here at LCES.

Thank you for your engagement and involvement. Your partnership makes such a difference for our students!

For those who would like to view the presentation shared in the gym, here is the slideshow: slides.

Fall is definitely starting to appear in Leadville! As the mountain weather shifts quickly, please begin sending your student with a sweater or light jacket each day. And, as always, please make sure all jackets and clothing items are clearly labeled with your student’s name.

Have a wonderful fall weekend, and we’ll see everyone Monday!

With appreciation,

Brandi Lovely, PK-5 Principal

All K-5 students will have the opportunity to check out books from the public library. Through a program with Lake County Public Library, all students will have a library card that will stay here at school. The library is a fantastic place to visit after school and on the weekends to gain access to books and other great resources. Any child, any time can go visit the library and check out books using their free library card- just tell the front desk staff your child’s name to gain access. We are very excited and fortunate to be working with the Lake County Public Library!

For the month of September, we will celebrate the HOWL of Responsibility. Responsibility means, “I take care of myself, others, and our environment.  I take ownership of my learning, my actions, and my mistakes.”

The Center Specifics

Dear Preschool Families,

As I was visiting classrooms this week, it has been great to see so much progress in such a short time.  Our preschoolers are following playground rules, interacting with friends, and becoming more and more independent with our routines.  This is fun to watch!

We hope the experience so far has been smooth for your family, please remember my door is open if you ever want to check in about how we can continue to support your child, your family, or the services we provide.

Have a wonderful weekend, we look forward to Monday!

Classroom News!

This week our classrooms will continue the “All About Me” domain with a focus on learning about the 5 senses.  You can support this learning at home by talking about things you can see, hear, touch, smell, and taste during mealtimes, walks together, bathtime, or other parts of your day.  You can connect parts of the body that go with each sense.

We will be learning the nursery rhyme “Do Your Ears Hang Low.”   Nursery rhymes are a fun way for children to learn the rhythm and sounds of language. Here are the words and a link, try it together!

Do Your Ears Hang Low?

Do your ears hang low?

Do they wobble to and fro?

Can you tie them in a knot?

Can you tie them in a bow?

Can you throw them over your shoulder

Like a continental soldier?

Do your ears hang low?

From the Assistant Director

I hope you all have a great long weekend. I look forward to seeing you all next week.
