News From LCHS 9/18/26

by fvillarreal · September 18, 2026

Dear LCHS Families,

We have a lot to be proud of this week.

Our Career Fair was a great opportunity for students to connect with members of our community, ask questions, explore different pathways, and begin thinking about what may come next for them. One of the best parts of the day was hearing so many positive comments from our community partners about our students. They spoke about how respectful, thoughtful, curious, and engaging our students were. That feedback matters, and it reflects the incredible young people we get to work with every day.

We are proud of the strong start our students have made this year, and we also know there is plenty of work ahead. As we settle further into the school year, we will continue focusing on strong instruction, student engagement, consistent expectations, attendance, and creating a school where students feel supported and challenged.

Thank you for your continued partnership. Schools are strongest when students, families, staff, and our community are working together. We appreciate the trust you place in us and are excited to keep building.

We are glad you are a part of LCHS,

Sports Report

HS boys’ soccer beat Estes Park 10-0 yesterday, ending the game early because of the mercy rule!

The mountain bike team dealt with hot and dusty trails in Eagle last Sunday. Hattie Mallozzi placed 3rd in the sophomore girls’ division, while Finnley Stanek and Emily Charles took 12th and 13th in the varsity girls’ division. Wilson Anderson finished 15th in the varsity boys’ race!

MS volleyball won at all 3 levels against Clear Creek on Wednesday!

It’s time for sports pictures! Team and individual sport pictures will be taken during practice time during the next 3 weeks. Any athlete who wants to order pictures MUST turn in their order form on picture day to their coach or directly to the photographer. If they do not have their order form completed and turned in on picture day, their individual pictures will not be taken. No orders will be taken through social media outlets. Coaches will have copies of the order form to pass out ahead of picture day. The order form is attached here.

Here’s the schedule:

Monday, Sept 21- MS Soccer at 4:15

Tuesday, Sept 22- MS Volleyball at 4:15

Eligibility reminder: we check high school grades every Wednesday. Students must be passing all of their classes, or they may not compete during the following week (Monday-Sunday).

Middle school grades are checked every other Thursday. If an ineligible middle school student gets all of their grades up, they may appeal and return to competition. Appeals are not an option at the high school level, per CHSAA bylaw.

Thursdays during Crew is the best time for middle school students to make up work or retake formatives. Please encourage your athlete to email their teachers to make a plan for getting caught up during this time.

LET’S GO PANTHERS!

Help Us Bring a Family Perspective to District Finances

The district is looking for parents, guardians, and other community members interested in volunteering for our Finance Committee. You do not need experience in finance or accounting. We are looking for people who are curious, willing to ask questions, and interested in learning more about how school funding works.

The committee reviews the district’s budget and financial position, discusses financial issues facing our schools, and provides a community perspective on financial decisions. If you’ve ever wondered where school funding comes from, why some money can only be spent on certain things, or how financial decisions get made, this is a good opportunity to learn more and help us make this information easier for families to understand.

The committee meets about 3–4 times per year, generally from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Meetings this year are currently planned for October, January, and April.

Click here to learn more and apply.
