Dear LCHS Families,

We are excited for Homecoming next week! Our Student Senate has put a lot of work into planning a fun week that brings students together and celebrates our Panther pride. Encourage your student to join in our spirit days.

Our Homecoming Parade is Thursday at 4:15PM on Harrison Avenue! We would love to see families and community members lining the street to cheer on our Panthers.

Thank you for supporting our students and helping make Homecoming a special part of their school experience. Go Panthers!

Sports Report

HS and MS volleyball picked up wins against South Park in the last week! And HS volleyball beat Lotus School for Excellence last Friday!

HS boys’ soccer tied with Colorado Rocky Mountain School on Tuesday, bringing their record to 4-2-2!

Lake County is hosting a 6^th grade volleyball tournament on Saturday. Games begin at 8:30 am and will be held in both the LCHS and LCIS gyms.

Next week is HOMECOMING, and we have LOTS of home events!

Monday- HS Volleyball v West Grand, C team begins at 4:30 pm

Tuesday- HS Soccer v Moffat County, Varsity at 4:30 pm

Thursday- Homecoming parade on Main St at 4:15 pm

HS Soccer v Caprock Academy, Varsity at 4:30 pm

Friday- HS Football v Rangely at 7 pm

Homecoming King & Queen announced at half time

Saturday- HS Volleyball v Cripple Creek-Victor, JV at 1 pm

Homecoming Dance, 7-9 pm

Middle school boys’ basketball season begins on October 19. There are 4 optional open gym dates to prepare for the season- Oct 5, 7, 12 and 14, from 6-7:30 pm at the intermediate school gym. MS girls’ basketball season is January and February, so that sign up will be coming in December!

Snack Information

We highly encourage all students to take advantage of our school breakfast and lunch programs, which provide balanced, nutritious meals designed to fuel their learning and keep them energized throughout the day. Please note that the school cannot provide snacks to students outside of these scheduled meal times. If your student tends to get hungry between meals, we kindly ask that you pack healthy snacks in their backpack to help them stay focused and satisfied during the school day.

Help Us Bring a Family Perspective to District Finances

The district is looking for parents, guardians, and other community members interested in volunteering for our Finance Committee. You do not need experience in finance or accounting. We are looking for people who are curious, willing to ask questions, and interested in learning more about how school funding works.

The committee reviews the district’s budget and financial position, discusses financial issues facing our schools, and provides a community perspective on financial decisions. If you’ve ever wondered where school funding comes from, why some money can only be spent on certain things, or how financial decisions get made, this is a good opportunity to learn more and help us make this information easier for families to understand.

The committee meets about 3–4 times per year, generally from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Meetings this year are currently planned for October, January, and April.

Parent & Business Potluck for Parent-Teacher Conferences

Weds. October 14, brought to you by the DAC!

The District Accountability Committee (DAC) is organizing a potluck dinner for one night of conferences, Wednesday, October 14. We warmly invite all LCSD parents/families and community members to contribute what you can. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference and help us celebrate our dedicated teachers. Food drop off will be at each school between 3-4pm. Please no plug in dishes such as crock pots. Food may come warm and we will keep it warm. If you bring a dish in a container that is not disposable, please plan to pick up this container no later than 7:00pm. We will send more detailed instructions closer to the date for everyone who signs up!

This is our only Parent-Teacher Conference potluck event for the entire year—we appreciate your help!

El Comité de Responsabilidad del Distrito (DAC) está organizando una cena compartida durante una noche de conferencias, el Miercoles 14 de Octubre. Invitamos cordialmente a todos los padres/familias y miembros de la comunidad de LCSD a contribuir con lo que puedan. Panther Padres are parent volunteers who help connect families, our school, and our community. Panther Padres spread the word about school events and important information, share parent feedback and questions with school leadership, and help clarify rumors or misinformation by connecting families with accurate, firsthand information.

Through direct communication with school leaders, including the Superintendent, Panther Padres help create a stronger sense of community, connection, and trust—making sure families feel informed and included. You’ll receive a few texts a month, at most, with important information and will be able to share feedback and questions directly with leadership.
