Dear LCHS Families,
We are off to a strong start at LCHS! Students are settling into routines, building relationships, and engaging in learning across the building.
SAVE THE DATE: Our first Parent Coffee Chat will be held on Monday, September 14th, from 10:30AM to 11:30AM. Families are invited to join us for a brief walk through classrooms to see teaching and learning in action, followed by time to connect, ask questions, and learn more about what is happening at LCHS. This will be the first of three Parent Coffee Chats offered throughout the year.
A few celebrations from our first weeks:
- Our 6th and 7th graders have made an incredibly strong transition into LCHS. They are quickly becoming an important part of our school community.
- Students are stepping into leadership through student-led community meetings.
- Our current attendance rate is over 90%. Thank you for helping your student arrive on time and attend every day.
- Junior High families, ask your student if they have received a Howls Card yet. If they have, ask them to tell you about it!
NWEA MAP Growth Assessment
Students in grades 6-11 will take the NWEA MAP Growth reading and math assessments during the week of August 31st.
MAP Growth is more than another test. It adapts to each student’s responses and helps us understand what students currently know, where they are ready to grow, and what instruction or support they may need next. This first assessment gives us a beginning-of-year baseline. When students take it again later in the year, we will be able to measure their individual academic growth.
Teachers will use the results alongside classroom work, observations, and other information to:
- Identify each student’s strengths and areas for growth
- Plan instruction based on what students are ready to learn
- Set meaningful learning goals with students
- Monitor progress throughout the year
Because the assessment adapts to each student, some questions are expected to feel challenging. Students do not need to study. We simply ask that they take their time and give their best effort.
The assessment schedule is:
- Monday, August 31st: 6th grade
- Tuesday, September 1st: 7th and 8th grades
- Wednesday, September 2nd: 9th and 10th grades
- Thursday, September 3rd: 11th grade
Please help your student get a good night’s sleep before the assessment and eat breakfast at home or school. If possible, please avoid scheduling appointments on your student’s assessment day.
Thank you for your continued support. We are off to a strong start and look forward to building on it in the weeks ahead.
We are glad you are a part of LCHS,

We have a new sports website called Bound! https://www.gobound.com/co/schools/lakecountyhs
This is the place to find schedules, ticketing and news about your teams. On the homepage, select the team you are looking for from the list on the left. Hint: you might have to scroll down to find what you’re looking for. When you click on a program, you will automatically be taken to the varsity level of that program. Click on the word Varsity at the top of the page and select the level you are looking for from the dropdown menu. Then click on Schedule to see and print the season’s schedule. You can also click the green Notifications button to select what notifications you would like to receive for your team. Click on the Panther head anytime to go back to the LCHS home page. Along the top of the home page, you can select Calendar to get a weekly or monthly view of everything going on at LCHS. There is a filter icon which allows you to select only the activities you are interested in on the calendar. Also at the top of the home page is a link for “Tickets.” Here you can purchase advance tickets for our home games. You will also be able to pay with credit card as you enter events.
Bound also has an app. You can find some informational videos on how to work it here.
