Full-time, 12-month support personnel who are not covered by a negotiated agreement are eligible for annual leave and paid holidays as outlined below.
Annual Leave
Full-time 12-month employees (240–260 days) shall earn annual leave according to the following schedule:
| Service Requirements | Leave Period |
| 1 to 5 years | 10 working days |
| 6 to 10 years | 15 working days |
| 11 to 15 years | 17 working days |
| 16 to 20 years | 20 working days |
Annual Leave Carryover
Annual leave must be used by December 31 of the calendar year following the year in which it was granted. Any unused annual leave remaining after that date shall be forfeited and will not carry over or accumulate.
Availability and Earning of Annual Leave
Annual leave is made available to employees at the beginning of each contract or fiscal year to provide flexibility in scheduling time off.
Availability and Earning of Annual Leave
Annual leave is earned on a prorated basis throughout the employee’s work year. Although employees have access to their full annual leave allotment at the beginning of the year, only the portion earned through active service is considered vested at any given time.
Use of Annual Leave
- Annual leave may be used only on contracted workdays.
- Use of annual leave is subject to supervisor approval and operational needs.
- Employees may use annual leave before it has been fully earned. Any leave used in excess of the amount earned at that point in the work year shall be considered advanced leave.
Retirement
Upon retirement (including retirement through Colorado PERA or retirement following twenty (20) years of service with Lake County School District):
- Employees shall be paid for any unused, earned annual leave at their per diem rate.
- If employment ends before the completion of the contract year, annual leave shall be prorated based on the portion of the work year completed.
- If an employee has used more annual leave than has been earned at the time of separation, the District may deduct the value of the unearned leave from the employee’s final paycheck to the extent permitted by law.
Paid Holidays
- Full-time, 12-month non-management maintenance, mechanic, and warehouse employees working 260 days shall receive twelve (12) paid holidays per year, including the Fourth of July.
