LCHS Safety information 2.20.24

Dear LCSD Families, 

We wanted to inform you of a situation that was brought to our attention at Lake County High School this morning.

LCHS administration was made aware that an LCHS student had created a “hit list” that included names of other LCHS students that the student intended to “kill”. At this time we have notified the parent/family for any child whose name was included on this list. 

Upon awareness of this list, we immediately notified law enforcement. Law enforcement has and continues to update the district on the ongoing status of the investigation and their next steps. 

We are committed to providing a safe and engaging learning environment for all students and staff, as such we will continue to work with law enforcement to stay informed and plan accordingly. Additionally, for the safety and wellness of both the staff member and the student, we want to be thoughtful about what we share and how we move forward. 

At this time there is no immediate concern for safety at school. We will provide additional information should the situation change. We appreciate the responsiveness and partnership with law enforcement.
