Board of Education-Board Notes for August
The board work in the month of August is typically focused on the District’s readiness for the year to come. In our August meeting, we received a report on the work done in the buildings by our terrific staff to prepare for the first day of schools. This included work in the Intermediate School to improve safety and security measures which was covered by a $500,000 grant we received last spring.
We also held a special meeting the last week of August to vote on the bond language that will appear on November’s ballot. If this ballot measure is approved, it will allow the district to receive a $20.8M Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) grant. The $20.8M BEST grant would provide 60% of the funding needed to replace the West Park Elementary School facility with a new building to house LCSD’s Preschool–Grade 2 students. The Board is asking the voters in Lake County to approve a $13.9M bond in November. More specifics can be found here.
