LCHS closed Monday, March 14, for students
Dear LCHS Parents, Guardians & Students,
We are reaching out today as a follow up to Thursday’s walkout as we have made the decision to cancel school for Lake County High School students grades 7-12, on Monday March 14, 2022. School for PK-6 students will run as usual.
The allegations that were made during the walkout, and the way in which they were presented, have had a serious impact on our staff. We believe it is critical to have time as a staff to come together to discuss next steps and time for students to have the opportunity to provide insights about how they are feeling. LCHS students are asked to complete the attached student survey as a way to share feedback and concerns. Parents are invited to share concerns and feedback through the parent survey link. The feedback from both surveys will be shared directly with the superintendent of schools.

We have heard that many students are also struggling with understanding emotions felt resulting from this event. We will be hosting virtual office hours from 1:00PM – 3:00PM online at meet.google.com/mxs-maft-you for students who wish to speak to a school social worker.
We will be looking to host future listening sessions for parents and students. As a follow up to our work on Monday we will send out an additional communication with information about school on Tuesday.
As a district, we recognize there is work to do. We are committed to gaining an understanding of the concerns that exist. We are also committed to planning how we will respond and move forward to support all students, staff, and our community.
Sincerely,
Lake County School District
