School Psychologist: Grades PreK-12 (may office out of HS)

Reports To: Superintendent and Principals

Length of Assignment:10 months  (189 contract days) Follows LCSD calendar for 2024-2025

Salary: LCSD Certified Salary Schedule  SSP placement starts at  MA, Row E ($52, 279 base); salary prorated if more than 179 days  plus EXCELLENT benefits!   (2024-2025 Salary Schedule will be updated when negotiations are finalized)  FLSA: exempt status

Qualifications Required: 

• Must have a Master’s degree with School Psychology Certificate or Specialist of Education in School.
• Must hold a current Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider license with an endorsement as a School Psychologist

General Description: 

The district school psychologist reports directly to the Superintendent and is co-evaluated with building principals  and collaborates with special education teams in each building.  The school psychologist meets regularly with the special education building teams to collaborate on special education evaluations, services, and other plans.  The school psychologist collaborates with teams and teachers who oversee emotionally disabled students, including all evaluations, behavior plans, and direct services.  An ability to de-escalate student behavior is essential. The school psychologist attends IEP meetings as requested by case managers and provides reports for staff within a timely manner.  The psychologist also works directly with building administrators to support an MTSS and Response to Intervention program, including necessary observations, assessments, and reports.  The school psychologist will provide necessary training to all staff as needed.  The school psychologist collaborates with counselors and mental health providers to ensure services are available and effective.  The school psychologist also collaborates with administrators and mental health providers to conduct threat assessments.  The school psychologist is available to consult with parents as needed. This position requires a high degree of collaborative communication and leadership.  It also requires substantial organizational and time management skills.  Written reports require a skill set that allows for efficiency and accessibility.  A high level of autonomy is expected with equal amounts of self-management.  

General Responsibilities:

• Provide direct mental health counseling services to targeted individual students and student groups
• Serve as a resource for general and special education staff to promote and implement academic and behavioral supports
• Model and reinforce building-wide expectations of students and staff
• Assist IEP teams with the development and implementation of IEPs 
• Document services provided and monitor student progress
• Write behavior plans in conjunction with other pertinent team members (e.g., education staff and parents) and assist with behavior interventions when deemed appropriate
• Lead/Collaborate in the Functional Behavior Assessment process in assigned buildings
• Collaborate in the Threat Assessment process in assigned buildings as appropriate
• Provide MTSS and RtI leadership and support in assigned buildings; participate in school district MTSS and RtI teams and assist with the facilitation and documentation of research-based methods for academic and behavioral supports
• Share pertinent evaluation/observation information with parents, students, and agencies as appropriate
• Administer, score, and interpret necessary assessments (broad and focused) to assist in determining disabling conditions, and/or tiered programming for students according to State and Federal Regulations and according to Mountain BOCES policies and procedures
• Support special education teachers to ensure a deep understanding of the special education process including all aspects of writing and implementing a high quality IEP
• Establish, maintain and enhance effective communication with administrators, staff members, students, and families
• Respond with a sense of flexibility and willingness to meet the demands of the job as they come up
• Other duties as assigned

• Demonstrated ability to administer and interpret cognitive and social/emotional diagnostic evaluations
• Demonstrated ability to provide evaluation results clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
